The Service
MakeTeams is a tool for teachers and educators to generate balanced teams from class rosters. The Service includes class list management, team generation in several modes (standard, jigsaw, world café, and others), self-registration via QR code, and optional paid plans. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. The Service is provided for legitimate educational and collaborative use.
Your account
- You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep it up to date.
- You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity under your account.
- You must be of legal age to enter into these Terms, or have the authorization of a parent or guardian.
Teacher responsibility for participant data
When you enter names into class lists, you confirm that you have the authority or an appropriate lawful basis to process those names. We only collect first names or nicknames of students, and only as needed to provide the Service. See our Privacy Policy for how this data is handled.
Subscriptions and payment
Some features require a paid subscription. The following payment terms apply:
- All prices are displayed and charged in USD.
- Payments are processed by Mollie, a payment provider based in the Netherlands. We never see or store your card or bank details.
- Subscriptions are billed for the period shown at checkout (for example, per year) and renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled.
- A receipt or invoice is available from your account after each successful payment.
- We may change our prices with reasonable advance notice. Any change takes effect at your next renewal, and you may cancel before then.
Organization accounts
The Organization (School) plan lets a single institution purchase Pro features for a group of users under one centralized subscription. The following terms apply in addition to the rest of these Terms:
- An organization has one or more administrators who manage the account on behalf of the institution — including adding and removing members, managing the autoenroll list, viewing the institution dashboard, and handling billing.
- By enrolling members, the administrator confirms they are authorized to act for the institution and that the enrolled users belong to it. The administrator is responsible for their members' use of the Service, in the same way a teacher is responsible for the participant names they enter.
- Members can be enrolled individually, via a pre-approved email list, or automatically when they sign up with the institution's email domain (if domain auto-enroll is enabled). The administrator warrants that any email address or domain they configure for enrollment is under the institution's control.
- Billing is seat-based and priced per user per year, with a minimum of 10 seats. Only member roles consume seats; administrator roles do not.
- If the administrator enables auto-expand, the number of billed seats may increase automatically to accommodate new members; the administrator is responsible for the resulting charges.
- Administrators can see member-related information on the institution dashboard, such as member email addresses and aggregate usage. Institutions should inform their members that an administrator has this visibility.
Cancellation and refunds
You can cancel a paid subscription at any time from your account settings.
- To cancel, use the cancel option in your account settings. You can also contact us using the contact details above.
- Cancellation stops the next renewal. You keep access to the paid features until the end of the period you have already paid for.
- If an organization's subscription is cancelled or lapses, the paid-tier access of its members is deactivated; members may continue using the Service under their own personal plan, if any.
- Fees already paid for the current period are generally non-refundable. If you believe you have been charged in error, contact us and we will review your case.
Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Service. In particular, you will not:
- Use the Service for any unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, or infringing purpose.
- Attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its infrastructure.
- Enter personal data about students beyond what is necessary to use the Service, or process data you are not authorized to use.
Intellectual property
We own the Service, its design, and its source code. The names and content you enter remain yours. You grant us the limited right to process that content solely to provide the Service to you.
Limitation of liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for loss of data arising from your use of the Service. We are not responsible for the content of the class lists you create.
Termination
You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or expose the Service to risk. Upon termination, your data is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version is indicated by the revised "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable at the operator's registered address, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
